Digging has been suspended indefinitely, a number of people suffered injuries lugging heavy tubs of sand and the flooding problem makes life ten times harder than it needs to be! The end of the cave at present (c20m) is just choked with sand with a 3inch gap above it, there is a small draught present, in wet weather the cave acts as a flood overflow - presumed to be a Bean Pot overflow (your guess is as good as ours).
Take me to the Lower Arch(ive)
01/11/03- After a huge break away from the dig Dunc and Pete decided to inspect the place, we found a spade at another dig and away we went! The sand had mostly dried out which made life a bit easier. We built a sand barrier to stop some slop going back to the dig face (have to see how it copes!). We pushed the cave a few feet more to the point where the passage appears to be now bending left...
Next digging session - whenever anyone feels like doing a bit.. this is the BRCC's long term dig! At present there is still a large number of
boarding within the cave along with possibly some old tools.. The local kids have been using some of the sand and other materials to make some jumps for their bikes!
At least someone is getting some benefit from it.
