Woke up nice and early, Pete was at work - I sorted my washing had breakfast and was making butties just as Duncan arrived about 9.30am. Pete wasn't due in till after 10 but he sent Dunc round early to make sure I was up!! huh!! Caroline got up just as I was getting in the shower. Once dressed I sat watching telly with Dunc while Caroline got showered and dresses. Yeah, Pete home from work at last - he had a brew and Caroline made her butties and then we were off. It took us about an hour to get there (traditional shop stop included) Arrived and ate a few butties - packed the rest into Duncan's back pack! It was quite windy and wet, me and Duncan took it in turn to 'look' at the river!! A quick picture of us all and off we went.

For the first half hour or so Caroline was trying to avoid the puddles while Duncan was walking through them - I think he's finally realised that his boots are waterproof. We hadn't walked that far and I was already impressed with the surroundings - plenty of waterfalls, on both sides of the river. As Pete and Dunc thought this was a race for 1st place me and Caroline were left behind. So when it came to jumping over a wall I just climbed up and jumped over but as Caroline climbed up she realised she could not jump down! o I put her over my shoulder and lifted her down only to find that she'd caught her pants on the barbed wire! finally unhooked we carried on.

Pete kept trying to tell jokes - but they just weren't funny but he kept falling over which was funny!! Further along the river we had to cross a waterfall and there was a log kindly but this proved to be a difficult task for some!

We could see the waterfall ahead but it looked miles away. Needless to say it didn't take us long to reach it - definitely worth getting wet and muddy, wow Udale Force is ace! Time for lunch, took some photos then a steep walk was ahead, and wow was it windy, very wet and boggy. My waterproof boots were a waste of time as the ground was very boggy and every now and then I'd sink upto my calves! It soon became a game to Pete, as they walked on ahead they knew where the bogs were so they stopped and laughed as we found out too! Yes you would have thought that two young men would of been nice enough to warn us but there weren't any around!!!

We only just about reached the cairns, as it was very windy it was time to admit defeat and head back, a very long and boring walk down. It was getting dark and Pete and Dunc kept wandering off (which wasn't very funny by the way) leaving me and Caroline to guess which. After finding them I gave them orders and we headed back to the car.

Hungry wet and tired I was glad to be in the car, Pete fell asleep on the way home - not that he'd admit to it! Once Home pizza for tea and Caroline vowed that was her last walk. She'll ache tomorrow!

One of many waterfalls The big one! An idea of scale..
