We did rig it off in-situ tat but I missed the Y-hang by mistake so added it to the topo after seeing it on the way up. It was not fatness on the 6th just I went wrong way and would not bend the way required.

Excellent write up very descriptive and likely useful for others wanting to repeat the trip. I would quite like to do that squeeze myself. By the way were we looking in the right place last time?

Sorry Shaman I meant to say directed (as in describing the pitch-head as you were coming through) rather than coaxed, it was a poor choice of words there. By the way did I not make myself a bit of a vagina anyway, if you read between the lines. i.e. “letting everyone know this”. I also included the fact I got stuck due to my own stupidity/bravado/lasyness of not removing my SRT gear which caused me to get wedged for a short period.

So I do try to be fair, if I feck up or wimp out, I will report it.

i stopped at bottom if last pitch as all that crawling did not sound exciting!

As for the duck the crawl to the start of it aint to bad its just the bit were you turn left and pop out at the top of the pitch that was low air space.

Yeh it was not, but was worth doing just to tick it. I myself had never been that excited about doing it, but I thought as I am here I am going the blooming finish this place. Yes the duck is pretty low, the first bit especially. But it does open out into a normal crawl before the pitch, it’s not like you come right out onto the pitch, that would not be fun hehe.

I will delete the original paragrapth if you like? – Will also have to edit the replys.

“At the 4th pitch, the trip almost ended before it began as Chris’s main light was failing but he decided to ignore this little fact and continue anyway as he had two backups and spare batteries” Is that better?

45 minutes, yeh right. It was about 10 and including rigging and another 5 for Shaman. Never said anyone had any issues going through 4th (only a reluctance to do it) nor did I say anyone was scared of the duck. You turned back, that was what happened. I record what I see as accurately as I see it, if you don’t want something that happened to be recorded then please, please e-mail before I post something, I deliberately waited a couple of days for you guys to write something.

P.s. I agree it was quite a demanding trip, I liken it to Penyghent trip with some of the living dead extensions thrown in, only a little more condensed. I am not bruised except for the tip of my elbow and got something trying to work its way out of my thumb, but still ache myself today.

Sorry, that was what happened was it not? Yes it was good that you carried on so the trip was not aborted and one would argue brave, but you should have not gone down without a properly working main light in the first place? (Its not like it failed in the cave, you knew well before-hand and therefor could have done something about it). So yes that was a little bit of a vagina moment, we all have them. Don made me look like one in his Peterson trip report.

    Some feedback…

Thanks for all your work Alex – please pass that on to Chris and Darren. Thanks Duncan for organising things!, John

    Cheers Alex.

I owe you lads a breakfast in Ingleton!

    Regards

    andrew

You did a good job in there!

I’m really pleased that it was the Black Rose who kicked off this project, as you’ve had it on your Descent “Adopt A Cave” list for a long time. I reckon once the work’s complete the cave will look far better!

    Cheers,

    John

Its a pity my camera was pointing the wrong way Daz, otherwise you would have been able to see the passage was not any smaller then the bit you came through. Infact I think you passed the tightest bit.
